The last peasants

“The Last Peasants” narrates the story of three families in the tiny Romanian village of Budesti. What these families have in common is the fact that one or more members of each have decided to illegally immigrate in Europe, in an attempt to leave behind the economic difficulties that affect their home country. Through 4 years of filming in Romania, London, Paris and Dublin, “The Last Peasants” not only narrates stories of migrations, but also the disappearance of the Romanian farming world because of the pressure exerted by an unstoppable wave of modernisation.
