Hiam Abbass left her home in a Palestinian village in the Galilee to follow her dream of becoming an actress in Europe, leaving behind her mother, grandmother and seven sisters. Every summer she went back to her village, along with her Paris-born daughter Lina, and all their journeys were tenderly filmed. Lina Soualem reconstructs through personal videos and black-and-white archival footage a story of determination and resistance that embraces different generations and territories. Although she is the first of these women not to be born in Palestine, she feels part of this powerful female lineage.
