STORIA DAL QUI
directed by Eleonora Mastropietro, Italy 2018, 74’
Ascoli Satriano, Puglia. A small inland village. A place of “there’s nothing here”, as they all say to Eleonora, who is back after some years spent in Milan, the place of “there’s everything there”, where her parents moved in the 1960s. Second generation emigrant. Detached from a “here” that she has never known, but that has always been in her mind in the form of tales, allusions, and personal stories. She is down South in order to visualize other people’s words: her family’s and Adele’s, the village kid who she met on her first and last trip to the South with her parents when she was a child. Adele, who has been writing letters to which Eleonora has never replied.
