Between 2000 and 2007, nine German citizens, mostly of Turkish origin, were victims of murders that investigators and media blamed on the Turkish underworld. In 2011 it transpired that the killers were members of a clandestine neo-Nazi group, triggering a major scandal and sparking public debate during a long-lasting trial ended in 2018. Turkish-born German filmmaker Aysun Bademsoy tracked down how these crimes affected the victims’ families and German society. As it turned out, there are still many unexplained facts and it is unclear how far the institutions are to blame. The calls for truth and justice remain unanswered.
