In Chechnya, Kadyrov’s semi-authoritarian regime adopts repressive measures against homosexual people. Among those who paid the expenses of these actions, there is also Kavaj, a young MMA fighter who had to flee the country following the death threats received by his homophobic brother. During a forced exile in Brussels, in a state of persistent mutism, Kavaj’s only link with Chechnya are the voice messages he receives from his mother. The movie follows Kavaj through his first few months in Belgium, looking for a new identity, having to live in complete anonymity to escape the Chechen diaspora.
