LA PERMANENCE (ON CALL)

Inside a modest room decorated with faded paintings there is a map on a wall behind a desk. We are in the free medical centre for migrants at Avicenne Hospital in Bobigny in the Parisian suburbs. It is the world that passes by our eyes, a suffering one made up of immigrants afflicted by physical and psychological weakness, worsened by their journey to reach France and by the extreme uncertainty of their daily lives. Assisted by a psychiatrist, the general practitioner tries to offer instantaneous medical solutions and a kind and friendly listening atmosphere in what seems a bottomless pit of misery.
